You don’t have to look very far to realize that these are times of great financial challenge. 2010 has been a year of increasing economic downturn. It’s almost frightening to turn on the news. Here are a few of today’s actual headlines:

“Public mood darkens on job fears”

“Natural gas facility explodes in Texas”

“Dow at 7- month low”

“Earthquake disturbs sleep in Los Angeles”

Wow! How do we survive? What can we do? As people of faith we must stay focused on God’s Word. You see, none of this any surprise to Him. In Matthew 24 Jesus talked about signs of the end – and they read like our headlines!

Our God is not surprised at the current events. He’s not nervous, He’s not concerned, and He’s not in a recession or a depression. He’s not wringing His hands, trying to come up with a bailout plan. Remember, He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. That’s a lot of beef!

He is Jehovah Adonai – in control, the One in charge.

God has always provided for His people. He knows exactly what each one of us needs and is more than able to provide it. Stay focused on Him and take comfort from the promises in His Word.

“Day by day the Lord takes care of the innocent, and they will receive an inheritance that lasts forever. They will not be disgraced in hard times; even in famine they will have more than enough.” (Psalm 37:18-19)

“God’s eye is on those who respect him, the ones who are looking for his love. He’s ready to come to their rescue in bad times; in lean times he keeps body and soul together. (Psalm 33:18-19)

He is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider and He will take care of our needs. God ain’t broke!
